Wes has no idea what he's talking about. For shame. Grand Lux, meh, Lawry's is across the street and the prime rib will blow your mind. Fogo De Chao is chain food garbage. Al's is ok. What area are you going to be staying in? Chicagoland metropolitan area is quite large, and you can do anything. Touristy stuff, Millenium park/Grant park, the museums, cubs game, Wrigleyville is pretty crazy during a game.

A pizza place owned by greeks. Kinda weak, I've known the owner and his kids for years. You gotta go to a local joint, not a chain.

Lawry's is nice....nice and expensive. Not worth the money IMO. Their prime rib is not worth whatever the **** I paid for it, could have gotten a better one for sale at Aldi, cured and cooked it myself. I was not impressed with the place personally, same goes for Ditka's.

Fogo has what? 22 restarants in the Western Hemisphere, 6 in Brazil alone? Might be a chain, but its not McD's for god sakes. Hell, he'd have to drive 5 hours just to get to the closest one in Indianapolis. All you can eat, $50, great food for the price.

I listed fairly inexpensive places that have alot of food for not a ton of money. There is better in Chicago, no doubt about it, but it costs an arm and a leg, the portions are smaller, and the service almost expects a 30%+ tip, even if they're **** ups.

And Giordano's is a chain within Chicagoland/Wisconsin. Its not national. But if you really want pizza, there is Nancy's, Obbie's, Fasano's, Corleone's to name a few.

Thanks guys, I plan on staying in the River North area. We are mostly just wanting to get out there and play by ear but I would love to have places in mind so we don't waste an evening figuring out where to eat.

What price range you looking to be in? Already book a room? River north is walking distance to the parks and stuff.

I'm looking at sub $200 a night, we have not booked yet although we will before end of the week. I am looking forward to seeing Jackson Park in person, simply as a historical stand point and the role it played in the Worlds Fair.

                      Portillo's Hot Dogs.

Plus they sell beer and have excellent Italian beef sandwiches.

Yeah, my point is that is crap compared to the local small businesses.

$200 will get you pretty far for dinner. Chicago Chop House is a fav. It's on Ontario just west of State.
