  • Charger Challenge

Well first of all the race. My 94 formula VS. My freinds 05 charger with a v8 hemi not daytona edition or r/t.
First race. Well we line up at the light with a pretty straight long road ahead we decided to race up to 90mph. The light turn green I floor and dont get that good of traction but he does. We are actually right beside each other the whole way. At 90 his front wheel was beside my door.
Secon race. We line up again. I hold the brake down get it to 1,000rpms and when the light turns green we go. I did not spin hardly any just squeled the tires a little and I was suprised by this considering I had it to the floor. This time when we got to 90 he was at least a car lenght behind me. He told me He would be modding his car soon. But check out the mod list I have below

    Mod # 1 - LT's

    Mod # 2 - 3.73s (I have a a4)

    Mod # 3 - 2800RPM-3200RPM Stall Converter

    Mod # 4 - 100 shot

The only probelm. Is that my formula is fixing to hit 188,000 miles theres no problem and runs good but do you think it would be time for a rebuild?

I know I have a v8 but I figured I would post one of my kills since this website got me started in online car talk back when I had my 3.4L camaro

if youre going to do it,

rebuild with better heads and cam. depending on your budget go with a Lloyd elliot heads and cam package, ill be going with the LE2 package next winter. that head/cam combo is good for 400rwhp and tq with supporting mods. www.eportworks.com there are other head/cam combos out there but plenty of people have directed me in that direction. Just my opinion though.

do you know which gears you have now? should be either 2.73s or 3.23s. if its 2.73s you have 2 choices, go with a thick 2 series 3.73 gear set or upgrade to a 3 series carrier and get 3 series 3.73s. ive asked around and the few that stayed with the 2 series said that they dont have any complaints. but most recommend upgrading to a 3 series carrier. i havent decided on my route on this yet.(but then again a moser 12bolt or ford 9inch is probably in my future.)

LTs- you cant go wrong. you'll probably need a Lt4 knock mod though or the computer will read some false knock from the added sound from the headers and pull timing.

100shot- everyone says that lt1s love N20. but most dont recommend going over 100-125. some guys have run 150 on stock internals and gotten away with it but i dont think i would try it.

stall- get dynoed first- that way you can have the stall matched up to your peak numbers.

best advice i can give ya is research, plan, replan, more research, plan again, some more research, plan some more, then go with with the final plan knowing that you did all of your homework. h3ll my list seems to change 2-3 times a week. as i type this im working on it, reading up and pricing crap.

anyways sounds like you had some nice runs! nice kills.

i think those are the mods he plans on doing. he said that the guy with the charger was going to start modding his car so punkrockerk is listing what he is going to do as well.
