A guy I work with has a 5 spd '00 Neon. He asked me if I wanted to race a few days ago, but we didn't have time. Tonight we took it to an old highway, about a 1/4 mile straight stretch.
First run:
On the launch, he got a jump start, I froze when the other guy said "go" so he got about a second head start. He spun out, I barely hit the gas to get a nice little roll, and then punched it. He kept up most of the way, unitl about 50, then I lost him.
Second run:
We turned around, and came back. This time, I floored it on "go" and he did, as well. I didn't spin much, and neither did he. I had him by 2 cars at 60.
Third run: This was my best run, my launch was nice, I grabbed right away and flew off the line against his 5spd. I was in the left lane ( 2 lane road, dangerous I know) so I got a good 3-4 cars ahead of him and moved over.
It's a neon, not much a kill... and I'm pretty distraught that I didn't do better against him. He said it's a 4 cylinder with 4 cams. I've got an A4, and he has a 5 speed... I guess I did well.
