Today i raced my buddies new mustang v6, base model, but hes got some package on it from the factory. He's got a 5 speed as well, from a stop he gets a jump on me, hes got traction control too, get into 2nd and hes about car length ahead and hes inching forward a bit, get to third and i start catching up to him and i shut down right before 100 with him half a car ahead of me. His car is completely stock too. I was pretty impressed with it, he's got a lil bit more power and no wear on the car, so its about what i expected. I think im going to have to get gears now! His motor sounded pretty good stock too. Im gonna give it another shot soon and see if i cant get a better launch on him. I would say driving skill is about even too.

A5 of M5? And what gears are you planing on getting? I might race this girl with an 05 Mustang v6. I have a stock 3.4 convertible (weighs more). I guess after reading your post, I know I dont have a chance to win now.

i was thinking the same thing. he must have gotten a pretty good jump then. i ran one when they first came out in my 02 3100 malibu. we only took it to 55(speedlimit) and i had him by about 3/4 of a car.

he had 5speed, and really good jump, hes got the benefit of a new clutch and traction control. If i get a better jump i can take him. i need a posi bad, cant launch anywhere near what i would like right now. i looked up the stats on his car and hes got 240 torque and 210 horse at the crank stock. and our cars are about equal weight. there will be a rematch. this has persuaded me to get a posi and 3.73s a lot sooner.

ok guys let not get carried away.. it would take more than the stuff he got to keep up wit one.
th mustangs are 15.3 in the quarter that was stock witha automatic. 5spd kid was doin probley a 15.0 so dont underestimate the new stang..
3.4....cold air intake, flowmaster, underdrive pullys, 3.42 gears, ngk spark plugs

how do you figure? hes got full intake and exhaust. he should be putting up close to the same if not better numbers hp and tq wise at the crank. it would be a drivers race. ive seen a few 05 v6 stangs at the track with bests of 15.3-15.4 totally stock. so they arent really much, if at all, faster than a stock 3.8 fbody.

At my local dyno shop a guy brought his 05 V6 5 speed in for a tune. Base dyno runs were like 195rwhp/210rwtq SAE.After a tune/cai it made 210rwhp/220rwtq SAE and got rid of the drive by wire bull.

My wife's 99 V6 5 speed made 167rwhp/196rwtq and ran 15.3's@90 mph in crappy weather.

I think the 05 V6 Mustang can run 15.0's easily.

goooooooooood neewwwws. today me and my buddy went back at it. took a different approach today. took some pressure out the back tires, car was running cooler, ran with 1/4 tank gas, and took subs out. first race i nailed my launch from 3,000 and got a very positive first to second shift. from the start i had him by a car length this time, and we took it up to 80 with me in front most the time by about 2 car lengths by time we shut it down. I surprised him and he wanted another shot, and the 2nd time the launch wasnt as solid but through 80 i put a little over a car length on him. After that just for kicks, we went out onto the highway and punched it from a 55mph roll. This went to 90mph and i was able to beat him by two car lengths in that one. All and all im satisfied now, losing to him didnt sit well on me. He will surely start modding his stang and want to try again. Time to get a posi, 3.73s, and a tsp tune now.

Yeah, when you get the posi and gears, you should be able to take him pretty easy.
