There's a guy in my hall with the Mazda 3 w/ the high end 2.3L engine. I guess it has like 160hp at the crank. After a little ride in my car he told me it would smoke his...so... :D

One did a ricer flyby on me when I was in my Cav. the other day on the highway. It had an exhaust and looked and sounded pretty quick. I was wondering about that too... was wondering what the Mazda 6 does also.

They are too heavy (at least 2900lbs). My friend has one of the 5spd automatics, it is pretty quick, but my focus could get him pretty good. I was kinda sad when the 2.3L 160hp car wasn't as quick as I thought it would be.

With just my rear resonator removed this car did a 15.84 with a 2.4sec spinning 60ft (1st and 2nd gear were all spinning). Mid-low 15s are coming with better tires this next race season!

15.6 with a 97' Z24 Cav here. Don't remember the 60ft though, I'd have to dig up the timeslip. Front tires were a spinnin'. Should be a little quicker with my new intake.

BTW, thanks for posting the stats to the Mazdas, FunkZ. I like that new Scion tC a LOT too (possible next commuter car). I love the smoothe look to it. If anyone can find some stats on that, I'd appreciate it!

I just pulled the bird out (its 50 degrees over here) and drove around town and I pulled up next to a Scion tC

first light i floored it off the line and put 4-5 car lengths on him.

then we stopped at the next redlight and i took it easy through first gear. he floored it and started gaining on me.. I was at around 3k rpm in second gear.. floored it and stop his gaining on me almost instantly.. then i started pulling away

they look nice.. i'll give you that

I think they look neat. What the crap is with the 2900lbs though? Seriously.

If I don't break a 14.X this next season I'm gonna run the car off a cliff. I'm designing and soon building two prototype headers and also will be getting some custom ground cams that are a little more aggressive than the cosworth stage 1. With this and the necessary computer tune (and the friggin stickier tires!), I don't think this should be an issue.

haha! :maybe: it wasn't an 06'. I think there is a weak version of that car also that looks plain. The 06' has a spoiler on the trunk, nice fog lights and a body kit (not sure if that's all standard or not). For a commuter car, it's plenty fast, gets great gas mileage and looks good. Add a couple of mods and it would be quicker. I'm sure it's a mid to low 15 second car stock anyway (magazines stats are usually a little slower) and for that price, hell that ain't bad. They were suppose to be around 16 grand with standard sunroof, cd, and bigger wheels (17 or 18, I forget) but I can see the dealerships have marked them up to like 20 grand.

What I think and what I end up doing are usually polar opposites. I thought I wasn't going to, but then I start with a few small things, and here I am. It is halfway ready for autoX now...so I HAVE to finish it! ;)

Really though I see opportunity in making aftermarket parts for them and I'm using this one as the platform. I've been negotiating with some groups to make the parts for the intake and headers that I am designing. I can sell the intakes cheaper than my competitors and in higher volume because of it. The same goes for the header, particularly the one that retains a cat. I just need to build it, test it, and apply for a CARB exemption, and that would open up a whole new market that is being ignored otherwise.
