  • Hemi Ram vs '98 Camaro

He pulled up to me and was pretty cool, asking me to go. So I did. I wasn't really paying attention to racing him though, as my reaction time was terrible and my foot was on the brakes after he started off. He said it was a bad start for him though (even though I hardly beat him), so he wanted to go again.

This time we were both ready and went for it. I beat him to about 50. By how much? I don't really remember, it's been a long night, but not a WHOLE lot. Maybe a half car or car's length?

Guy pulls up to me again and goes, "Nice job. We give.. Two for two does it. We're probably putting out about the same power, you're just lighter. We've got that Hemi, ya know?"

Me.. "Yep, I know. I've just got that six though."

I have a decal on the back that says 3.8L V6 and he saw it I guess and thought I was joking, mistaking me for an 8. I shocked the **** out of him though when I told him it was only a six. lol

you shouldnt have shocked him, stock hemi rams are good for mid-low 15's, not exactly times that he should be expecting to stay w/ ls1's or anything

Ive raced plenty of hemi trucks, even raced them up hill(someone said that hemis would be better uphill becuz of there gearing) i have taken all of them by 3+ carlenghts. there not that fast at all. exhuast ones sound good though.

Try actually being in a Lightning with Hemi Rams floating around. Either they know not to mess with Lightnings or they get a quick education.

Heck...my Lightning's 1/8 mph (88.5) is almost as strong as the Hemi Ram's 1/4 mph...

It cracks me up when they try to pace you on the highway and my wife evens notices and says "what do they think they have?" and then chuckles.

About the LT1...pretty easy to get them running well. I helped a bud with his LT1...for $4300 he runs 11.4's@121 on pump gas on BFG DR's. Still runs the stock 10 bolt. I ran 11.7's on the stock 10 bolt.

The key to the LT1's is getting rid of the LT1 rear and getting a LS1 differtential. Much stronger and rebuildable.

                            I went to a 12 bolt simply because I went Th-400, t-brake and 5000 rpm launches...no that is when ya 12 bolt.... ;)

you dont see people in f-150's going around everywhere trying to race, but slap a hemi badge on a dodge and they think they have something special.

lightnings are nice trucks, imo the best sport truck out along with the typhoon/syclone.
