02 Mustang (barely lost)

Well me and one of my best friends who owns a 2002 3.8L Mustang decided to race again tonight since ive gutted my cat since we last raced. Well we lined up and everything went great through 1st gear for me, spun like hell off the line but got a decent jump on him from the holeshot. Stayed pretty even with him just trailing my passenger side door till he went into 2nd gear and so did I. He barely edged me out at just about the end of the marked 1/8th of a mile on the country backroad that we normally raise hell on. I believe if I would have taken some of the garbage out of my car I would have probably hung with him throughout the race. He has a weight advantage, not to mention having a full catback exhuast system and a K&N air filter. If I didnt have about 200 pounds of stereo equipment in my hatch and some garbage and cloths in my car I think I would have gotten him. Afterall its still a good race since all ive done to my car is slightly modified the stock air filter box to expose the entire filter surface to the outside air and only having a gutted cat. One of these days ill make a trully good air intake and do some minor weight reduction and I should take him.

well thats not bad for a 3.4 then,since the 3.8 camaro barely beats them :D

3.8 barely beats??? i dont know about other 3.8'ers but the mustangs ive raced ive smoked the hell out of.

auto for auto = camaro owns
auto for M5 mustang = driver race
M5 for auto mustang = camaro wins (long as drive is not really bad )
M5 for M5 = driver race

the newer 3.8 stangs stack up pretty well to our 3.8 as long as its a M5. their autos are a joke, even mustang owners make fun of them.

yeah i have a friend that has an m5 and i have (had) an auto and i used to beat him bad but right before my car got totaled he sure gave me some hell and actually one of like 4 races he edged me out!!! so yea auto fbody vs. m5 jbody is a drivers race!!

i raced an auto 2000 stang in the focus....2nd gear, a sweeping pull, 3rd gear still pulling hard....by 4th he gave up...
