SALEEN S281

Well on my way home I ran into two guys that had newer Saleen Mustangs, (not sure the years) so we were messing around and dwent on the interstate and I was keeping up with them but could never catch them to pass them, when they stoped and pulled over I asked if they wanted to race from a dead stop in a 1/4 mile I have marked off(GPS is awesome), so they were like well, it would be a waste of time but sure I will race anything once [img]smile.gif[/img] and I knew I had them, so we went out and raced a 3 way, the bird really surprised them when I beat them, thank god it was only a 1/4 mile though our they would have taken me on the top end. I was very disappointed on how slow they were for having a supercharged V8 :rolleyes:

Awesome run there.

My neighbor has a yellow convert. Saleen S281 with the root blower, the whole works.

He's a cool guy though. Very mature guy and loves his car a lot.

It is a nice show car.

I figured that there would be those that wouldnt beleive me so here is a link for those that dont beleive me, so you can shove it up your ***, Now keep in mind that these are tested at sea level and I am at 4700ft above sea level, so that means for a forced induction it equals out to be about .4 secs you add to the quater mile time at sea level which OMG that would put it at 13.7 and that is probably with a awesome launch, which is close to what i am running (13.7 is the best and 13.9-14.0 is average)

Good kill. In a 1/4 mile I don't find it hard to believe because like you said, the would have killed you after the 1/4 mile. But off the line, camaro's always seem to hook up better then mustangs, ecspecially ones with rediculous amounts of power.

S281-E are the supercharged ones, I'm pretty sure the one he raced wasn't one of those because they have over 400hp. A regular S281 I'll believe, we have the jump off the line because we have torque arm setups and they have 4 link suspension.

I'm pretty sure there are just different HP ratings for the Saleens. The S281-E is the highest, but there are models below it that are supercharged also. Sorta funny that a supercharged 8 cylinder can't break the 13s.....

Does anyone else find it weird that the 1/4 mile is 13.4 while 0-100MPH is 11.9?

Never seen a high MPH in a timeslip with a slow time? Usually means the suspension isn't able to handle the power. Dont look JUST at the end results, read the timeslip and analyze it. What does it do for a 60'?

you can order body kitts/hoods for the saleen look. a friend of mine that had a bullit modded his into the saleen with full body kit
