How are these cars on gas? and... what do they cost? Maybe I'll look into one of these for a "commuter" car...

they're in the 30's unless you get a used one.

they like to blow differentials up.

their mileage, in my experience, is comparable to a V6 camaro, probably a little worse unless you never boost.

Yeah evo 8s are pushing like 19 lbs of boost! does anyone know how much more you can get out of them? i heard STI's you cant really do a whole lot more out of them.

Id still take an STI over an EVO. The sti is a much more refined car, sounds SO much better, and has a better backed name comin with it.

Take a look at every mitsubishi turbo car thats ever came out. You'll find most of them in the shop.....

Still tho, they impress the hell out of me for speed. For 27K you can get a 13.4 car out of the box. Thats pretty sick.

The problem with the EVOs is you will not destroy a differential.. Its the stock clutch. 2-3..4 high RPM launches and your clutch is gone faster than a pizza at a weight watchers convention.

Plus that fact that AWD cars are a lot harder on the clutch than manual too, even if you don't launch at crazy RPMs. You have to be a pretty good driver to make the clutch last in an AWD car.

                    ...Good story? </font>
It wasnt supposed to be a good story, it was supposed to state a time where a Camaro won, and since the Trans Am WS6 and Camaro SS are virtually identical when it comes to performance, I thought it would answer his question about who would win.

Actually, I've looked this up before because I've compared a WS6 to an EVO and an STI for sh*ts and giggles. And from what I've found, sites say the Evo gets 18/26 while the T/A gets 19/28. Interesting eh? And I've heard people say, "I can be just as fast AND have great gas mileage." Guess not.

Actually those test results have to include SOME wide-open throttle testing achieving full boost which sucks the gas Realistic fuel economy if you keep your foot off the pedal is more in the 20-21mpg city ;)

My old car was a turbocharged probe GT and I saw 25mpg city.. I had an onboard diagnostic system that let me watch all the stats, and at WOT with full boost I was getting about 8-10mpg...
