Im looking for the best kit that will give my 98 v6 camaro the most horsepower and that will give my car very few problems but I want it to be fast because its only has 200 horsepower and I want about 300+ horsepower thats it. If more power could be added I will definetly go for it Im looking to spend about 3,000 because Im in love with my car its my first and only car

so your looking to buy a nitrous kit but you dont want to have any problems with it? thats kind of hard to have only because once you start modifying your car from stock factory parts and adding stuff, there is bound to be a problem sooner or later. espically with nitrous, if you have a nitrous burp or something it will blow your whole intake up. also if you wanna get 300+ HP your gonna have to start looking for other mods to help get gains only cause you dont want to put more than a 100 shot on your car with all stock internals and that 100 shot will put you somewhere around 280HP or something like that.

What mods do you have done to your car?

i personally like the Nitrous Express wet kit. i actually just sold mine. if you want a new one then you can go to www.jegs.com or www.summitracing.com and they sell them. maybe get a cold air intake, catback exhaust, headers. or you can get a turbo for like $2000 which would be a good mod. its all in how much you want to spend. if you are gonna spend $3000 on stuff then just do research. i know your gonna pay like $500 for the nitrous, maybe $300 for the exhaust.

is your car automatic or 5-speed? if its 5-speed you can get a spec stage II or III clutch. you can buy either 3:73 or 4:10 gears for it also.

first off, please stop looking at nitrous and superchargers for your car for a little while. You need to hit all the bolt ons and such first so that your car can handle the power adders and perform like it should.

            For starters:

            1. Full exhaust (headers, hi-flow cat, cat back system
            2. Cold air induction kit
            3. 3.42 gears and LSD rear end
            4. Low temp thermostat and fan switch

then maybe start looking at power adders. Being that you are a rookie to the car mod scene, you need to start slow and get the basic mods first before you start dreaming and throwing the power adders on.

I can get you a nice nitrous kit if you want new through my dad's shop but I would like to see you upgrade your other things first before you go that route. I'll email ya some stuff.

2 pipes? Do mean it has a cat back exhaust already? It could have came stock with the dual exit exhaust. Just cuz it has a cat back exhaust doesn't mean it had nitrous by no means.

Look on your drivers door at the sticker for Y87

                Then get back to me.

I think it is a cut out but it sounds good when I mash the gas but it could be better. Have you heard of the powerdyne supercharger for 3.8 camaros how much horsepower does that add it cost like 3,500 so it should add from 75 to 100 hopefully I just wont more horsepower the simple way. By the way what kind of shops do these mods that your are talking about popular names would be a big help. can your car beat a stock z28 with no mods

info on the powerdyne with 6psi pulley. You can also change to smaller pullies for more power.

cold air induction kit just do yourself.

exhaust done at an exhaust shop, just buy the things online and they can install them

gears/lsd, first check if you have the Y87 code on your door sticker.

I can beat an lt1 z28 stock no problem. LS1 z28, I haven't raced one yet, it would probably be close with the 100 shot.

                        Thanks for the compliment.

To be honest, I wanted a supercharger to start and still kind of want one. The problem is that I am in college and the money needed to buy a sc just isn't in the mix for me. That is why I went with nitrous because it is cheap and I can make the same amount of power as a sc. If I were to buy a sc though, I think I would go with the ATI Procharger that is intercooled. Powerdyne is a proven winner with our cars though and has been around for a long time. ATI just made our kit like a year or two ago.

It is very possible to combine nitrous and a sc. Shirl who has the fastest 3.8l fbody runs a powerdyne at 6psi with a 100 shot of nitrous. So yes it is possible, just tuning for it is tricky and you have to have the suspension and fuel upgrades to handle the power. She runs 11s and is the only one to run 11s here so far.

surely using that 75, 100 shot to beat an lt1 right?

I wonder how much money shirl has put into her car If I could run those numbers I would stop there and leave it alone before the engine blows up.
