  • service vehicle and air bag light

this morning when I started my car the service vehicle light came on along with the air bag light. later on the day they went off, should I be concerned that thr air bag systrm is not working?? or assume it was just a fluke and ignore it?

OBD II scanner is fine, on my 1996 the air bag light doesn't set a OBDII code so their probably seperate things, unless a 02' is different. I removed both air bags and mine still didn't set off the air bag light.

A generic scanner might not be able to read the abs module. It all depends on the tool.

Air bag light shouldn't have anything to do with the ABS system, ABS system is just your brakes.

... I completely read that wrong the second time around. Airbag has it's own module too though.

Point being, not all scanners can communicate with every module. Most cheapo handhelds can't.

Its too bad Hptuners can't do the ABS codes, it does everything else. They want too much for a ABS code reader, I can't find a cheap one anywhere.
