Best place for cut out?

where is the best place to put on an electric cut out? i think i heard it actually flows better right after the cat. do i need larger diameter piping on any part of my exhaust to make this more effective? right now i have the factory piping and a WS6 muffler. thats it. i was thinking...is this more cost effective than a tsp rumbler? (will it give me more power than a rumbler??) if so i just want a cut out that i can open whenever i need extra power [img]graemlins/rock.gif[/img] [img]graemlins/burnout.gif[/img] please help out, and let me know if anyone is selling one for a good price. i prefer an electric one. oh and where can i mount the switch so that it looks factory?? thanks guys

I am not an expert but I don't believe you will see as much as a gain with the cut out as you would with the rumbler. The rumbler is worth the money. It's loud, rumbles at idle, and makes everyones head turn as you cruise by :D I believe even if you get the rumbler and want a cut out, you will see little to no gains with both. Maybe someone else can chime in and give you some more info. But in my opinion, go with the rumbler [img]graemlins/bowdown.gif[/img]

The best place to put the cutout is right before the rear axle. You will not need larger piping either, just go with a 2.5 inch setup. Power gains actually vary from car to car so theres no way to say if you will gain more with it or not. But if you interested check out www.quicktimeperformance.com

wouldnt it be more effective to have it right after the Y-pipe and before the cat, you should see a difference there, but I havent done this to my car yet so I can really say.

this topic has been beaten to death. it was discussed heavily not to long ago. Search. But neways i was thinking of putting in a qtec cutout but im gonna order a rumbler.

i just want to know if i can just get a cut-out and be done with my exhaust so i can just have it open to race, and closed when just driving around. can i get a definite answer as to whether it will be more beneficial than a cat-back? thanks for the help so far, its given me some things to think about

I would just get a cutout and be done with it if you don't want to do an exhaust system. Then, later on, if you want to get headers or something, it could help even more.

As for placement of the cutout, I would say before the cat, because the flow is constricted through the cat.
