97 Firebird, V-6. Car won't start. Tried resetting VAT by the 10 minute method but the security light never stops blinking. Could it be the BCM? Should I do the VAT bypass? Thanks.

You could try bypassing vats, you could also try pulling your bcm and touching up the 5 spots known to have cold joints.

    See this: https://highperformancejunkies.com/h...dy-bcm-repair/

any other symptoms yoh have had electrical wise?

I have done the bcm 5 spots years ago. No other electrical issues. Just won't start. No power to starter when key turned. Thanks.

I’d do the Vats bypass or use or find someone with Hptuners to tune out Vats. Where do you live? Since your a 97’ my Hptuners can you tune it out.

Thinking about it, you could try a new key $20 at the dealer and see if that works, all they need is your registration and the vin number. Then if that doesn’t work it’s definitely the vats.

Good to hear, on mine 96’ Camaro when my ignition went to crap I got the column and everything, including the Bcm off a 2002 SS Camaro and installed it about 10 years ago, what sucks about it is I forgot the vin number so I have keys made at ACE Hardware since they don’t require a vin . Just the key and registration. Oh and I also did the LS 14.1 steering rack & pinion and joint.
