Is there any reason why you could not remove the antenna and say run the antenna wire to the body to use the entire car as an antenna? The biggest reasons I could see against this involve the electrical problems inherent in connecting it to the ground and more importantly that I think antennas might have to be certain lengths for certain wavelengths?
