    the belt is about an inch to two inches longer - everything else is in the stock location.

    you have to drill one hole out (if you look carefully at the passenger side bracket you will see a hole where a bolt goes to hold to the iron heads, there is a recess, but not a bolt hole next to that -- simply drill that out and it will line up the brackets to the heads fine.

    please study my pictures for more info on making the alternator work. the power steering pump requires modification to the rear bracket to make it work with the stock block holes. (Attaching ps pump to block).

      Okay, double checking on the pushrods and rockers and arms. I have the 3400 heads with all the rockers and such associated with it. I can use pushrods for a 3.4L right? I got the comp cams spiffy pushrods cause they were only $30 or so and a 212/212 cam.

        i am using the same parts...and NOT the 3.4 pushrods....you need to use the 3400 pushrods...they are 2 different lengths....one for intake and one for exhaust....you need those because of the splayed valves...and they will work just fine...no need for custom pushrods

          NO.

          you cannot use the pushrods that come with the 3.4L RWD engine.

          the 3400 pushrods are varied-lenght. some are 6" long, some are 4" (intake and exhaust differences)

          if you use the 3.4 RWD pushrods, some will NOT fit.

                use the stock 3.4 lifters that were in your motor ....

                  Thanks stormwolf and black. You guys have been very helpful. I will be putting everything together later this year in school. I'm sure I will continue prodding you guys for info and I will try to document the process.

                    no problem......i am getting my block machined now...and have decided to use the 3500 heads and lower intake so i am getting those parts now....should put me over the 200 hp mark at the rear wheels....my motor should be together in a month or 2

                      hey I was searching on ebay and I found a seller with a stock of 100 of these cylinder heads... all are reman and these could a be a good buy

                          So having read this entire thread multiple times i have gathered that these parts are what is needed to make the whole setup work properly

                          -3400 cylinder heads
                          -bigger fuel injectors from the 3400 and accompanying fuel rail
                          -intake plenum and tb from the 3400
                          -pushrods from the 3400
                          -rockers from the original 3.4L
                          -lifters (from where?)
                          -the dished pistons from the 3400 (to lower cp)
                          -the correct gaskets for everything
                          -new headers with the flange slotted to get it to fit correctly

                          am i missing anything?

                            yea. GM 3-wire temperature sensor. you need an adaptor to go from the intake manifold to the heater hose (two pieces from aeroquip, still trying to find PN)

                            other than that, i think you are good...

                                yes, top front of the upper intake just behind the throttle body unless i am horribly mistaken
